Alasdair.

What is your major?

Engineering Science.

Where did you go to school?

Oxford University [UK].

What year are you?

Third year.

Who do you think is a genius?

Isambard Kingdom Brunel. He was a truly great engineer. He built the best railways, ships and bridges of his time. He let nothing get in the way of his grand visions.

What is your favorite equation?

e^(jx) = cos(x) + jsin(x) simple but damn useful!

What is the last thing that you built, or took apart in lab?

We took apart a Kawasaki motor bike last term. The last thing i built was a small bridge.

What are your favorite and least favorite courses?

Favourite course - Structures. I like to be able to visualise the problem. Least favourite course - Engineering mathematics which can be the opposite!

If you could own a company, what would it be?

The Virgin empire. Richard Branson has had a amazing life as an entrepreneur starting and running various companies. To live that kind of life would be amazing.

What is your dream job?

Running my own (successful) engineering enterprise.

What did you want to be as a kid?

An Inventor/Roller coaster designer.

Righty.

What is the coolest thing you have every done?
Race car driving.

Why did you choose science and engineering?
As a kid, much to my parents annoyance, I always took stuff apart. This led to a wider curiosity of how stuff works and how to make things!

If you weren't an engineer/scientist what would you be?

Probably a surgeon. I didn't end up going down that part because i somehow thought engineering seemed like more of an open ended adventure. Maybe I've watched back to the future one to many times!

Who is your favorite superhero?
Batman. He is a real hero, no superpowers just ingenuity and determination.

What is your favorite kind of music?

Indie.

What is your favorite car?

Lotus Elise.

What is your favorite movie
Back to the Future.

What is your favorite video game?

System Shock 2 or Zelda Majora's Mask. Both tell incredible story's, something i think video games should be more about.

What is your favorite toy?

Lego because i used to create theme parks complete with roller coasters.
